Marching Across Georgia (every now and again known as ''Marching Thru' Georgia'') occurs as marching song popular amongst union soldiers in a period of the American Civil War, written by Henry Clay Work in 1865, referencing US General William Tecumseh Sherman's March to the Sea during the previous year. It remains the popular tune for brass bands, and has lent its tune to the total of more popular songs, including The Land and Billy Boys.
